Urinary Tract Infection?

🚻 You’ve just been to the toilet, but soon feel the urge to go again;
😣 Stinging or burning when you pee makes every toilet visit stressful;
💼 Work gets interrupted, outings revolve around finding a toilet, and sleep becomes restless…
Many women wonder: “Could this be urethritis? Am I not keeping myself clean enough?”

Don’t blame yourself. Understanding the cause matters more than repeatedly washing.

🔍 1. What’s the Difference Between Urethritis and a Urinary Tract Infection?

“Urethritis” means inflammation of the urethra—the tube that carries urine out of the body. “Urinary tract infection (UTI)” is a broader term covering infections of the bladder, urethra or kidneys.

What people casually call “urethritis” may actually be cystitis, a bladder infection. Painful or frequent urination alone cannot confirm the cause; a medical assessment may be needed.

🦠 2. Why Are Women More Prone to UTIs?

1️⃣ Bacteria Entering the Urinary Tract
UTIs commonly occur when bacteria from the bowel enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Women have a shorter urethra, making it easier for bacteria to reach the bladder. This does not necessarily mean poor personal hygiene.

2️⃣ Factors Related to Sexual Activity
Sexual activity can move bacteria towards the urethral opening, increasing the risk of bladder infection. Urethritis can also be linked to sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia, which require appropriate testing and treatment.

3️⃣ Difficulty Emptying the Bladder or Changes in Health
Incomplete bladder emptying, urinary stones, catheter use, diabetes, pregnancy and menopause can all increase the risk of UTIs.

🫧 3. Painful Urination Doesn’t Always Mean an Infection
Irritation or injury to the urethra can also cause inflammation. If you also experience vulval itching, changes in vaginal discharge or an unusual odour, other conditions, such as vaginitis, may need to be considered. Avoid relying solely on more frequent washing or repeatedly switching intimate-care products to address the discomfort.

🩺 4. What Should You Do If Symptoms Keep Coming Back?

If you experience painful, frequent or urgent urination, seek medical advice. A doctor can assess whether you need urine tests, other infection tests or medication.

⚠️ Seek prompt medical attention if you have fever, chills, back or flank pain, blood in your urine, or if you are pregnant.
Two UTIs within six months, or three within a year, also warrant further assessment rather than repeatedly managing them yourself.

🌿 5. Introducing LUNAA FemRosé: Everyday Nutritional Support for Women
LUNAA FemRosé combines cranberry extract, lactic acid bacteria and botanical extracts, with a focus on supporting women’s everyday intimate health.

🍒 Cranberex® Cranberry Extract
Research on cranberry products suggests they may reduce the risk of further infections in some women with recurrent UTIs. However, results depend on the formulation and dosage. General cranberry research cannot be directly taken as proof of FemRosé’s effectiveness, and cranberry products cannot be used to treat an existing infection.

🍃 Lactic Acid Bacteria Formula
The brand includes lactic acid bacteria as part of its microbiome-support formula. Their effects depend on the specific strains, viable bacteria count and product-specific research. Simply containing probiotics does not justify claims of “rapidly rebuilding the vaginal microbiome” or treating vaginitis. There is currently insufficient evidence to support probiotics as a treatment for vulvovaginal candidiasis, also known as a vaginal yeast infection.

🌺 Ellirose™ Hibiscus Extract
Ellirose™ is a hibiscus extract positioned by its ingredient supplier as supporting urinary tract health. Research on an ingredient does not establish the effectiveness of the finished product, so it cannot justify promises of eliminating urinary pain, treating vaginitis or preventing all recurrences.
